I know a fair amount. But, while I'm no fan of ALEC, it doesn't justify voting for progressives.

ALEC is like a clearing house for "pre-written" laws that they'd like to see passed. They target local governments because they're easy marks. And not well paid. So, ALEC hands local, friendly, politicians these pre-written bills and the local rep passes it off as their own idea. Basically it's corporate powered grassrooting.
