I guess that if the US has the right to deport anyone they wish..so does Mexico?
From what I read, US dollars are welcome..just not white US people..los gringos si?
Good for the goose, good for the gander, I think.

A protest by hundreds against gentrification and mass tourism that began peacefully Friday in Mexico City neighborhoods popular with tourists turned violent when a small number of people began smashing storefronts and harassing foreigners.

Masked protesters smashed through the windows and looted high-end businesses in the touristic areas of Condesa and Roma, and screamed at tourists in the area. Graffiti on glass shattered glass being smashed through with rocks read: “get out of Mexico.” Protesters held signs reading “gringos, stop stealing our home” and demanding local legislation to better regulate tourism levels and stricter housing laws.

This past Tuesday I heard something about "mass tourism" in several countries (mostly the EU) causing major problems for the locals. It was on FOX Business.
I get it. Who wants arrogant Americans with lots of money to spend? Only those business who cater to them. The majority of businesses in Mexico are not set up specifically for tourists.

Mexico and other countries will never have citizens as wealthy as Americans until they adopt an economic system more similar to that of the United States. If they have no plan to do so, why give them tourism dollars, or foreign aid?

I'm sure there are plenty of "Ugly Americans" down their mainly to take advantage of the economic problems Mexico has from not being like the U.S. They like the cheap hookers or the cheap maids who can be sexually harassed with impunity.

Yeah, it seems to be a thing in a lot of places. Poor locals are tired of people coming in with money and rubbing their faces into the fact that they, the locals, don't have a prayer of ever living that dream.
Breeds resentment, I imagine~

Tourists tend to be clueless assholes

If memory serves a lot of it centered on small islands and scenic villages in Greece and Italy. There's really no "tourist season" anymore but year-round issues.

They never talked about the flavor of the tourists other than saying most were in their late 20s to early 30s.

Hilarious. So it’s racist for Americans to be upset that there are so many foreigners here causing prices of everything to go up, but it’s okay for Mexicans to protest white people living in Mexico City.

Mexico has always been some kind of Bizarro Merica, maybe another one of our color revolutions to usher in the north american alliance.

Absolutely Mexico has that right. They are a sovereign Nation and they do have a good core of solid upstanding, hard working people. Capitalism knows no bounds..... And it speaks all languages.
Good for the Mexicans! Glad to see that they're awake to the problem.

To be fair Mexicans are protesting for something that benefited them. There was an earthquake in 2017 and the prices of properties in Mexico City plummeted, but with Covid many Americans moved to Mexico City to work remotely as there were no restrictions in place and this led to an increase in property prices and now Mexicans protest that which is ironic

Meanwhile in Mexico.....

Clashes in Mexico City amid Gen-Z styled protests over crime and corruption

Riot police deploy tear gas as protesters tear down fences around the residence of Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.
15 Nov 2025 ~~ By Mariamne Everett & AP

Thousands of people have rallied across Mexico, protesting against growing crime, corruption and impunity, which, though organised by members of Generation Z, ended up being mostly backed and attended by older supporters of opposition parties.
The marches on Saturday were attended by people from several age groups, with supporters of the slain Michoacan Mayor Carlos Manzo attending the protest wearing the straw hats that symbolise his political movement.

In Mexico City, a small group of hooded protesters tore down fences around the National Palace where President Claudia Sheinbaum lives, prompting a clash with riot police who deployed tear gas, according to media reports.
Mexico City’s public safety secretary, Pablo Vazquez, said in a news conference that 100 police officers were injured, including 40 who required hospital treatment.
Another 20 civilians were also injured, Vazquez told local media outlet Milenio.
The public safety secretary also said 20 people were arrested and another 20 “referred for administrative offences”.

Sheinbaum, in power since October 2024, maintains approval ratings above 70 percent in her first year in office but has faced criticism of her security policy due to several high-profile murders, including that of Manzo.
Manzo was the mayor of Uruapan in Michoacan, who was assassinated on November 1, after leading a crusade against drug-trafficking gangs in his town.
His supporters took to the streets in towns in Michoacan on Saturday, too.

Commentary:
Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum has faced accusations of corruption and alleged ties to narco-cartels. Despite these claims, she maintains high approval ratings. She has publicly accused right-wing parties of attempting to infiltrate the Gen Z movement and of using social media bots to manipulate protest attendance.
Many young people in Mexico feel disillusioned with the government’s handling of crime and corruption. The protests reflect a broader global trend of youth activism, with similar movements occurring in other countries facing democratic backsliding and corruption.
