Protestant work ethic a myth?

Irish Catholics settled in highest concentrations in prosperous Boston.

Irish Protestants settled in highest concentrations in less prosperous Appalachia.

Two unrelated factoids, does not a convincing argument make.

Catholic Germans tend to be more prosperous than Protestant Germans too.

South Germany, Switzerland, and Austria has more prosperous Germans than Germany's North.

I am a Roman Catholic and I avidly subscribe to the "Protestant Work Ethic." It has nothing to do with Protestant or Catholic. It is synonymous "Middle Class Values."

It has to do with believing that hard work and perseverence will ultimately result in prosperity (and that poverty is the usually the result of a lack of hard work and/or perseverence).

Sorry.

Asians and Indians work harder than either Protestants or Catholics

It's just an old saying. No need to pick it apart on the basis of religious denomination.

This new young workforce may well go down as the hardest working most productive america has ever seen. What a great time to be an employer. So easy to find workers that go at it hard.
