Numerous agencies and departments have issued guidance in recent days on what to expect if there's a funding lapse. But several have yet to release details on the potential impact on operations, an unusual lack of information so close to the funding deadline when compared to previous shutdowns.

So we have to tell it ourselves.

There are no doubt many and varied human costs to shutting down something as large and as vital as our federal government. Let's let this thread be a place, not for partisan bickering, but for each of us to share our story of how defunding the Federal Government damages the lives of ourselves and our loved ones.

It can be a kind of support group, that I sure will comfort all of us as we all go through this stressful time.

Does anyone know if Chuck Schumer saw his shadow this morning? Six more weeks of government shutdown coming if he did!

Elizabeth Warren asked about how a government shutdown could affect her
but Big Pharma assures her that she'll still get paid.

I woke up in fear this morning over the thought of a federal government staffed only by essential employees.

I wish I could stay home to show solidarity with the non-essential folk laid off (or maybe fired), but unfortunately my employer can only afford essential workers. Something about not being allowed to print money or something.

Most people wont notice the shut down

It was with great trepidation that I rolled out of bed and pushed the button on the coffee maker. Thankfully it came to life in defiance of the shutdown.
Praise Allah!

Mine worked also, but I had a gas burner and a cowboy coffee pot on my patio just in case. In a few minutes, I'll find out if my car starts. It's not electric, so I have my doubts.

I wish I was a typical Dem or "not Dem." When they wake up at noon, this hellish ordeal may already be over.

Not many stories of real suffering.

Okay, I'll open it up to stories of cousin's, neighbors, "a guy told me," or whatever.

As long at it is plausible.
