While current political violence is being blamed, in part, on uncontrolled hatred on social media, a Jungian perspective may reveal another cultural factor: the media obsession with killer females and warrior women. The “femme fatale,” according to Carl Jung, was the negative expression of a man’s anima or Inner woman.
The long string of movies with deadly females, such as Kill Bill, La Femme Nikita, Salt, Atomic Blonde, Hannah, and Aeon Flux may reflect a male mindset that has not outgrown an anima obsession that equates sex with death, and lures men with the false promise that violence will be rewarded with sex.
A subset of these immature men would include transgender individuals who want to become warrior women.
