Pocket Revolvers Are Still a Good Choice for EDC

Yes. My uncle and I both use revolvers for EDC. (Ruger Super Redhawk and S&W Model 29 respectively) Wife does not (Beretta 92), her best friend does (S&W Chief's Special).
I like the Blackhawks and the Vaquero Ruger’s
 
Hammerless or hammer-reduced .38 Special or .357 is just fine.
You could go .41 .or .44.

If you pick up the right model Smith & Wesson, you can do both. Ultimately you really can if you get 357.
 
A laser is hard to see in daylight.
red laser on a target from 20 feet away I can see well but that is only part of the function, if I have a laser on my chest I am not going to move towards it, you might not even need to fire the weapon
