In recent years, the amount and variety of jars of this tremendous fish recipe are becoming smaller and smaller in local grocery stores.

Although I don't understand why, because its a great thing to eat.

Can I get a "hell yeah" on Austin 3:16 Day on this?

I just don't understand it.

Can't get it locally.

No pickled bologna either.

Says you can make this from canned herring...

Done this... delicious...

Back during the big herring runs in the 60s we would catch them by the trash cans full, bring them back and the women would clean/pickle them.

It was usually done at night and come daybreak they would fry-up the Herring row.....Usually we would have our share of the pickled (more like salted) Herring fried-up for breakfast on Sunday mornings.

I was just a kid at the time but I remember dad's old Herring dip "nets" well.

Sort of like this but made out of chicken wire.....Sometimes it would be so heavy with fish dad could not lift it out of the water.

Us kids just snagged them with hook and line on a pole cut from a branch.....It was great to be a kid back then.
