It's all but over as I type this. An Englishman named, Aaron Rai, has gone and snatched victory from the jaws of defeat, and will ultimately prevail. I had never heard of him before, but he seems like a sterling fellow.

But this has not been a fun championship to watch. The greens and pin placements are unfair. The best golfers in the world are missing three-foot putts, and are afraid to go after the pin with their approach shots because even microscopic errors result in the ball rolling off the green into deep rough. As a result, virtually all the golfers are hitting their first putts from 30+ feet away and just saying a Hail Mary that it goes in.

I understand that the pro's want these Majors to be challenging, but as I say, this ain't fun to watch.

It was a US Open setup with very punitive rough and I agree that some of the pin placements were ridiculous. Aaron Rai has been coming on with high finishes and a couple of wins. But no one saw him blowing away the field on the final day. When the greatest players in the world were hacking it out of the rough on Sunday Rai was 6 under par for his last 10 holes. Congrats to him.
