Peter and Gordon

Great duo. Really enjoyed their stuff when it came out.

Seventeen, a beauty queen
She made a ride that caused a scene
In the town
Her long blonde hair
Hangin' down around her knees
All the cats who dig striptease
Prayin' for a little breeze

thank you for this thread. also, first song (Woman), of the day for me.

"Woman" is a 1966 single by Peter and Gordon, written by Paul McCartney under a pseudonym (to see if it would be a success without the Lennon-McCartney label). Under the Lennon–McCartney moniker, McCartney had written three previous Peter and Gordon singles (viz. “A World Without Love”, “Nobody I Know”, and “I Don't Want to See You Again”).

That song was written by Paul McCartney when he was 16.
He offered it to the Beatles and John Lennon laughed at it.
So Paul was dating Peter’s sister and living at their house.
When Peter and Gordon were looking for songs for their new album…..Paul offered it to them
