Why are people on the internet so mean? Does anonymity and lack of real world consequences give us the incentive to be big assholes?

People are mean in general, here on the internet we are anonymous so we just feel more confident to expose our attitude.

Because, sometimes we don't want weirdos who we don't know private messaging us weird messages, so we can tell them to "fuck off" when they become a nuisance.
