In a Republic, actually
ā€˜Several former senior military officials who served under Trump have sounded the alarm in recent years about his authoritarian impulses, including Milley and retired Gen. John Kelly, Trump’s former White House chief of staff. Kelly said before the election that Trump fits ā€œinto the general definition of fascistā€ and that he spoke of the loyalty of Hitler’s Nazi generals.

There is not much the Pentagon can do to pre-emptively shield the force from a potential abuse of power by a commander in chief. Defense Department lawyers can and do make recommendations to military leaders on the legality of orders, but there is no real legal safeguard that would prevent Trump from deploying American soldiers to police US streets.’

Anyone in the military who doesn't want to take orders should be expelled at the very least. A friend of mine in the 1980's signed up for the USMC. He got into an argument with a superior over that very issue and was discharged after serving his country for 8 days.

including Milley and retired Gen. John Kelly,
Two traitors heading for hearings on their treason sometime in the future TBA.

Trump fits ā€œinto the general definition of fascistā€
TRANSLATION: Trump actually expects his subordinates to be competent and do their jobs well.

and that he spoke of the loyalty of Hitler’s Nazi generals.
You mean Hitler's generals were NOT loyal? :auiqs.jpg:

There is not much the Pentagon can do
There, you got one thing right.

potential abuse of power
Gee, wasn't that the same tome we heard in 2016 that Trump would start WWIII if elected?
BTW, genius, while you are busy calling Trump a fascist, do you know that the DNC just admitted that all the rhetoric about Trump during the election was just HYPE and they knew it wasn't true? Time to change the channel, Bub.

but there is no real legal safeguard that would prevent Trump from deploying American soldiers to police US streets.’
Police the streets rounding up undocumented illegal foreign INVADERS that Biden and Harris let into the country. CRIMINALS.

BOTTOM LINE is that the whole frackus between Trump and the DOD is that they are used to working to government bureaucrat standards and daddy is coming home expecting (and demanding) they work to PRIVATE SECTOR BUSINESS standards, where you either swim well or you die.

Were they all asleep during civics 101? The military works for the civilian government. The Pentagon doesn't have the authority to even threaten to countermand the president's agenda. It borders on treason and violates every aspect of Duty, Honor and Country. Drain the freaking swamp. Jan 20 can't come soon enough.

Sounds like a conspiracy to commit treason

The DOD has their own agenda, commitments, plans, allies and enemies list, and news briefings, where it used to be under control of the President and voters. Tail wagging the dog big time and needs to be brought back into line, and reestablish the divisions between the Executive branch, the DoD, State Department, Congress (war powers act) and the intelligence spooks. There is no oversight authority now. Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh Press Briefing

People keep throwing the word fascist around and like the OP prove they don't have a clue to what it means. Put brain in neutral and start spewing words.

"There's no real legal safeguard that would prevent Trump from deploying American soldiers to police US streets." I think even the most amateurish lawyers know about posse comitatus. The sources in this article, and by proxy the publisher, are straight up lying.

As C_Clayton_Jones also knows better -- he's lying, too.

Yet another thread where something imaginary and never happened has been accepted as fact, and the last sentence signs if off as such. Bizarre.
