President Donald Trump stumbled into a shocking gaffe on Thursday when the self-proclaimed “president of peace” told reporters that “peace is so destructive for everyone.”

Trump spoke to the press aboard Air Force One as he returned to Washington from the World Economic Forum in Davos, where he signed the charter for his newly formed Board of Peace, intended to oversee his administration’s plan for Gaza’s post-war reconstruction.

“Peace is so destructive for everyone, even countries that aren’t involved. I mean, it’s so destructive for everybody when you have wars.”

...and he's right. Peace time breeds complacency and causes atrophy of field craft.

His point is that we should always be preparing for war as if the next war will begin tomorrow and he's right.

Our (so-called?) NATO allies have let their combat forces whither away to nearly nothing. Take the UK, they can field 25,000 troops and have 25 tanks that are combat ready. Peace time has definitely destroyed their army. If they went head-to-head with Russia right now, British casualties would be in the thousands in the first few days. The British Army would be combat ineffective in less than a month.
