But that likely puts me in the same category as the vast majority of people - even French people.

I'm a conflicted agnostic.

But who cares about my own spiritual beliefs or lack thereof?

This is universally repugnant whether you're a secular libertarian populist (moi'), or a fundamentalist evangelical Christian.

I think that the vast majority of people isn't so outraged by this performance. After all that fuss, I watched the ceremony today. Nothing special, actually, sometimes even boring. And for me, all that 'Christian' outcry is far the same as a queer movement - don't support and don't care. Ironically, these devote Christians make good advertising for this ceremony. And I wouldn't be surprised at all if that was the goal.
