Seems like every year more and more the job of teaching becomes more about paperwork and less about the actual teaching. I love teaching, but I hate paperwork. Such is life.

I had a friend (F) tell me she had to mark papers on her own time.

Her job is really good and pays well BWTF !

And yet, school administration ranks are at an all-time high.

Little odd how someone with 141k posts complains about not having time.

More likely-someone's cousin gets a sweet no-show job as the third assistant vice associate deputy to the second vice deputy assistant to the first assistant superintendent.

I've never taught but i ran my own real property appraisal business. Every property I appraised had to be researched as to it's ownership. tenancy, title holder etc. Market reports were part of it along cost estimations. Every job different and one really didn't know if some complexity would cause extra time. 50 to 100 pages for each report. Jobs can pile up and you got people screaming for their estimates because of loan locks, etc. All that paperwork, stress and research....And I bet you have a lot in your job too. Hang in there, keep plugging away.

Teach the kids how to do the paperwork (for extra credit). Problem solved. :)

Maybe you should call their bluff and just not do all of it

I refuse to do some of the ridiculous, redundant charting my employer tells me we’re “required” to do.

If teaching is anything like nursing, there’s enough of a shortage that they talk a big talk but when it comes down to it, they can’t afford to lose people and they’re gonna pick their battles carefully
