I haven't had time to study it, but it looks like China is relinquishing at least some of the control it has on the Canal. AFAIK, they have 5 ports on the Canal, which seems to me like a lot of control.

Panama Canal is an important part in lots of trade routes.

Do you just pull numbers out of your ass? A quick Wiki check says about 5,600 died and only about 350 were Americans. Sounds like, if you’re talking blood, the Panamanians contributed more.
Asking for the canal back is like the guy who built your home saying he wants it back, despite it having been paid for long ago.
