He died aged 105 and the last of the few to pass into History, hard to believe he was just aged 20 when he flew Spitfires, i think he also flew Hurricanes, RIP.

We are losing all of these men. It was slow at first, and now few remain.

My grandfather was a vet of the Pacific theater and he died in 2022 at the age of 102.

I met several in Normandy last June for the final time, i noticed some who had been in Normandy the year before had left us, i have done the same in the Netherlands Arnhem over many years.

I managed to be at the US Cemetery at Normandy for taps in 2015. To say it was a moving moment is an understatement.

Whatever disagreements we may have with the French, I have to say they keep that place immaculate.

RIP Paddy.

Those in the picture are Hrricanes in the battle of Britain they shot down 7 out of ten German aircraft but in the minds of many the Spitfire took the glory, one of my favourite British aircraft of the war was the Mosquito night fighter bomber it specialized in very low level attacks including the Philips factory in Eindoven and Gestapo HQ in Copenhagen among others., the vid shows the Mosquito attack on Amiens prison that was holding French resistance fighters.
