He's a football legend as far as his play on the field.

I'm curious as to how you can not distinguish between a person's character and their physical play.

I was happy when Taylor made the Hall of Fame less because his career was deserving, but a great deal more because I didn't want him to be another Pete Rose. I've heard far more mention of Pete than the players that actually made baseball's Hall of Fame in the year Rose would have become first eligible. I didn't want a similar controversy over a rejection of Taylor to linger on year-after-year.
