City residents who don't have a debit or credit card or I-phone are told to go pound sand if wanting to park on public property. Of course, government forcing this upon people is blatantly un-constitutionand violates 31 U.S. Code § 5103 - what is a "Legal tender" for all debts, public charges, taxes, and dues, and that is in addition to anti-discrimination statutes.

In any event see the cashless society Mafia at work:

I see the opposite more and more in sane America.....Many places are up charging 3% for CC use. They take check or cash instead.

I saved $1700 last week by writing a check as opposed to using my CC for a large purchase.

Sure I would have got points but not that much in points.
Yup...My auto mechanic has the same policy...He just took my mom's check for $2,300 to replace the motor.

Doesn't surprise me. Necessities of life now or you cannot do spit:
  • Computer system.
  • Telephone.
  • Internet service.
  • e-mail.
  • Cellular service.
  • Texting.
  • Alternate e-mail account.
  • Social Security number.
  • Current operating system.
  • Updated web browser.
You need a small fortune in technology just to leave the house. Whoa be unto you if you cannot afford it, keep up with it, or can't deal with it all.

This is all about money and convenience. For the township. They win out two ways:
  1. They get to fire all the people who go around collecting money out of parking meters. No more truck, no more salary, no more benefits, no more problems dealing with the public.
  2. They are bound to collect more money because folks are apt to over-pay using ten minute increments.
Expect a lot of these electronic meters to often have operating issues. And the instant your pay expires, these meters will likely report on you. Plus they have all your personal information on you now, so assuming your data isn't hacked and stolen, they know just who to send the parking ticket to without needing someone to come by now and notice the EXPIRED tag on the meter.

There is a micro brewery in Spokane that has had so many robberies that they refuse to accept cash. The first time I went there is the last. These cities are wondering why their downtown cores are failing---this type of action is one of the large reasons.

Now the brewery will get robbed and have all of their CC database info stolen.

I'm not whipping out a CC to buy a beer.
I'm not opening up an internet account with password just to have a drink.

This is getting ridiculous.

What kind of regressive shithole do you live in that still has parking meters? We got shed of ours 30+ years ago.

There are no parking meters around here, but I'm sure there are still some parking meters in my township around certain public areas like the library or post office. At least there were last time I was in the area and looked.

And yeah, while I live in the suburbs, the city nearest me is considered a deep blue city in what would otherwise be an all red state.

Did you get to see

H.R. 1138: Payment Choice Act of 2025 (119th Congress) Bill Summary | Quiver...

See a summary of the HR.1138 (119th Congress) bill, including bill actions, sponsors, corporate lobbying, and more.

But keep in mind the Payment In Choice Act, which started a mature and needed discussion on forced cashless payments, by the terms of our Constitution, can only apply to payments to government!

Then it is worthless. All my experiences have been non-governmental.

And government agencies then need merely only insert a non-governmental collecting medium as an intermediary to side-skip the law.

Government would violate 31 U.S. Code § 5103 - what is a “Legal tender”

But SEE:
.
Cash is trusted because no third party (or intermediary) gets between the parties of the transaction. As in the beginning, before the government, when two parties agree to the transaction, they complete the transaction. Money is restricted to its proper and limited use, serving only as an efficient means of exchange and a stable store of value. With cash, no third party takes a cut of the transaction. For this reason, many small businesses prefer cash. They lose as much as 5% to Visa or MasterCard for the service they provide, but cash doesn’t lose any value due to transactions. SOURCE

You people love to go to the most obscure sites possible in order to justify you ridiculous Reich Wing Conspiracy theories. Find a more reputable source.

Caldwell Borough will no longer accept coins as payment for metered parking.

The stupid ones will die quickly after the government starts the multi-culturally diverse pogroms. It is your people who have called for internment camps, concentration camps, reeducation camps, exterminations of Republican voters. It is your Prog people who are 99% of the violence in all ways. People will align for survival. You may be surprised at some of it.

What was it? An insurrection or an ATTEMPTED insurrection?
FACT: It was neither.

Please link to the criminal conviction or any conviction for rape, moron. While your at it, link to ANY conviction for insurrection. Your lies don't make it so. Gaslighting doesn't work anymore.

Lots of places here are doing the same.

Whenever I can, I use cash -- my chiropractor, the grocery store, any tradesmen, any gift to the church I attend.

I make sure I shop foreign brews. Much better tasting.
