Ontario’s euthanasia regulators have tracked 428 cases of possible criminal violations — and not referred a single case to law enforcement, say leaked

This was so predictable.

Why?

Because you have always been able, throughout human history, to find people who have little compunction killing others.

Canada is slipping into something very ugly.

The other day, a 26-year-old man was euthanized because he suffered from seasonal depression.

This is bullshit. There is a 90 day waiting period unless you have a terminal diagnosis.

I suspect that assisted suicide claims more libs than conservatives since the left is more depressed on average than the right

Does that mean it should be legal since its a positive net gain for the country?

I’m undecided about that

I don’t have any issue with people committing suicide.

In most cases it represents an honest self-assessment of their value to society.

My friend's sister applied for MAID about 3 years ago. She had an untreated infection in her leg, which she had left untreated for far too long. When she finally did seek help, it took weeks to find a treatment, by which time she was permanently disabled, and had to be moved into assisted living. The pain was unrelenting

There is a mandatory waiting period of 90 days for MAID, and counselling is required. During the waiting period, the woman's infection was successfully treated, and she was no longer in pain. She adapted to assisted living and her friends were still taking her to their card games and luncheons. They still are today.

This notion that people are being forced to off themselves, isn't entirely ridiculous, but it's not the government doing it. It's children who don't want their parents spending their inheritance that are generally the pushy ones.

My friend used MAID last year. She was diagnosed with ALS in March of 2024, and it came for her hard. Most people live 5 to 7 years after diagnosis. She barely made it one year. Her care team had her set up for MAID the moment she was diagnosed so her health and mental capacity could not be questioned on the application.

At Valentines 2025, she sent a message to our group that she didn't know how much longer she'd last. She could no longer move, and needed help breathing. Sleeping was difficult. She lasted until early May, and then said her goodbyes.

MAID was a blessing for her.
