Nothing I've seen so far is simply "unwise spending". Payments made with zero accountability of any kind. Payments made that are far outside the scope of the department's purpose. Bloated operating costs, wasteful spending, and actual ILLEGAL spending.

Here's what is going on.

Democrats attempt to "buy" votes with government give-away programs, and to help their partisans in and out of government (e.g., Stacie Abrams) with programs, grants, and whatnot, providing no benefit whatsoever to the American people. MOST of Federal discretionary spending is technically unconstitutional, because Congress lacks the Article I power to spend money on, for example, education, healthcare, housing, saving the planet - you get the idea. So any attempts to curtail this spending is met with outrage, histrionics, talk of a "Constitutional crisis," and other nonsense.

From the beginning of our republic, Presidents have had and used the power to decline to spend money that Congress has appropriated, because it is unnecessary, unwise, or improper (in the President's view).

Many years ago, Congress passed a law stating that the President couldn't do that, and the law is still on the books. The law is unconstitutional, illogical, and unenforceable, but it has not yet been challenged in court in any meaningful way. But it's coming.

DOGE is President Trump's frontal assault on that law. He is saying, in effect, that it is bullshit and he is not going to comply with it. His reasons are partly political. The beneficiaries of unconstitutional and unwise Federal spending are ALL supportive of the political Left - it was planned that way. So by taking away these "corrupt" people and institutions, Trump enhances his support and potentially reduces support of the Left.

It will be resolved in the USSC. Until then, everything DOGE does is up in the air. If the Court decides that Trump doesn't have the power to curtail spending on his own, Elon Musk will go back to being a full-time entrepreneur. DOGE will be dead.
