I didn't know whether to put this in current events or politics. Also, I sort of culled the two links out of a lot of other links, in order to edit down the information, but hopefully not unfairly. Miss has an "institute of higher learning"( IHL) that hires and fires. It's nine political appointees who have no higher ed experience. Ole Miss includes the state medical school, and largest hospital taking Medicaid dollars. It's a bit of a soap opera, with Archie Manning (who's raised hundreds of millions) Jim "netscape" Barksdale (whose give hundreds of millions) and John Grisham all not amused with our crony capitalism govt.
The IHL's stated reasoning to fire the guy (who is recovering from cancer btw) is improper bid contracts. However, the audit doesn't bear that out, esp when one considers Miss lets out literally billions in "no bid" contracts, which made Haley a berry berry rich man.
