Classic anvils, being solid steel throughout and just short of 10 inches in depth, makes it impossible for any .50 caliber round to penetrate beyond a small dent. A 20mm round would have difficulty penetrating a fixed in place anvil from top to bottom, as 20mm rounds are for lightly armored vehicles.
