That is a nice illustration, but a little simplified and confusing. For instance, they show stuff both on the left and right, at different levels. Also, I have other charts on oil refinement fractions that suggest this chart is not wholly accurate. For instance, gasoline is not usually the top fraction.

But here's an interesting factoid--- do you know that originally for a long time when they began refining crude oil, do you know they originally just threw the gasoline away? They considered it a waste product.

But then, tomatoes were originally thought to be a poisonous plant. Who knew.

hotter they get the thicker it gets up to asphalt/tar

Jet fuel is refined kerosene, the same stuff I burn in a heater in my garage.
