Who is it that started the meme of fake news?
Having this shit boomerang on your asses sucks, don't it?
That is the point of my thread
Democrats were being bombarded with fake news and those stories were debunked with actual facts. Snopes is full of it
Trump has taken the "Fake News" claim and removed the requirement where you actually have to prove it is fake
I believe it comes down to certain news groups making assumptions on a personal discussion between General Flint and a Russian ambassador, and they don't have ANY facts to base their arguments on. Where are those actual sources that are named, that was involved in the dialogue between this one on one discussion? How is speculation and sensationalized ideological generated "drama" actual journalism? The media was actually challenged by their chief editor during the Nixon Administration to be sure the information they received was accurate and can be backed with a "reliable source". You can be sure, if their information did not hold up or was inaccurate, they would surely hear about it. This is what is considered good old fashioned journalism. It's time the news media was subject to the same accountability, scrutiny, and credibility questions it once held as a standard, as credibility is evidently in short supply when you consider how one sided most media outlets project themselves.
The press reported the contact. The Trump administration was aware of it and declined to divulge it until the story appeared in the press. In addition, Trump aids were in contact with Russian representatives during the campaign....at a time leaks were being provided by Russia to support Trump
That is the duty of the press....investigate stories as they happen
Trump has yet to provide a satisfactory explanation other than to berate the press and call them names
The duty of the press is to report government leaks as they happen and who it involves, as well as credible sources who can back that up. It is their obligation to find and report facts as they happen through credible reported source. Then, follow up on those leads based on the information that they find, presenting the news as it becomes known. Now what the press DOES have a strong habit of doing, is drawing their own conclusions based on speculation and divulging their "opinion", THEN hope that the evidence would eventually lead to those conclusions they believe to be true without acting upon sufficient evidence.
There's also nothing really found in the first amendment that states the press can not have their facts and information questioned, they aren't SO protected and beyond reproach as to have their credibility come into question behind how they come to their conclusions.. or even questioning the integrity and information on the source. The ability to back up your conclusions on solid resources is what makes for good journalism, when we often find biased national inquirer kind of reporting being broadcasted instead.
