Denis was the bishop of Paris, and the Roman Empire officials really didn't go for Christianity, much like libs today.
They chopped the gentleman's head off at Montmarte , Paris, the highest point of that city.
Denis got up, picked up his head and preached a sermon, concluding when he reached the suburb now known as "St Denis" after him. A lot of people downplay Denis, pointing out the he was walking downhill after his decapitation so how hard could it have been.
But I still think the history is remarkable.https://www.franciscanmedia.org/saint-denis-and-companions/
