ScienceDaily (Feb. 24, 2010) — More intelligent people are statistically significantly more likely to exhibit social values and religious and political preferences that are novel to the human species in evolutionary history. Specifically, liberalism and atheism, and for men (but not women), preference for sexual exclusivity correlate with higher intelligence, a new study finds.

Given that ther majority of self-proclaiming conservatives in places like this show us that they are not nearly as well informed as most self proclaiming liberals; given that they tend to propose solutions to problems that are examples of how societies worked three or four hundred years ago, I'd say that this theory has at least SOME validity.

These are generalizations, of course.

Some of the birghtest, best informed players on this board are obviously fairly conservative.
