Looks like the warning system for axle bearing temperature defects was working as intended, and the derailment happened WHILE the train was stopping due to the warning for an inspection of the car.

Train 32N passed three HBD systems on its trip before the derailment. At MP 79.9, the suspect bearing from the 23rd car had a recorded temperature of 38°F above ambient temperature. When train 32N passed the next HBD, at MP 69.01, the bearing’s recorded temperature was 103°F above ambient. The third HBD, at MP 49.81, recorded the suspect bearing’s temperature at 253°F above ambient. NS has established the following HBD alarm thresholds (above ambient temperature) and criteria for bearings:

• Between 170°F and 200°F, warm bearing (non-critical); stop and inspect
• A difference between bearings on the same axle greater than or equal
  to 115°F (non-critical); stop and inspect
• Greater than 200°F (critical); set out railcar

Trump deregulating braking systems had nothing to do with why this derailment happened...

The question is; why is Xiden pouring scores of billions into kicking off WW3, instead of tending to the well being and safety of his own citizens?

The other question is how much attention is diverted into things like diversity and woke initiatives by both the regulating agencies AND the company itself to the detriment of performing their intended jobs and functions.

I'm not saying you CAN'T do both and have both be at competent levels, but resources like time, attention and money can be finite and focusing on one thing can result in loss of focus on other things.

You don't want someone designing a bridge, or splicing 14kv wire, or monitoring a nuclear reactor having their attention diverted by woke nonsense, and the same applies to other jobs dealing with things like safety and proper operations and monitoring.

So they get the signal, they begin to stop the train, then note smoke and find a derailment. remember all the operators are at the front, there is no crew at the rear anymore.

The question of when the derailment started, before they hit the brakes, during, or after during the slowdown hasn't been figured out yet.

The highest temp of the bearing was around 250F when it was last measured, a seized bearing being dragged can spark, and depending on the vegetation status in the area, it could cause a fire to start.
