NPR sues Trump over executive order cutting federal funding

In terms of editorial content, yes.

But the are first, and foremost a news organization.

People who think Fox, NoiseMax or X land don’t distinguish between factual reporting and editorializing. Because Fox is mostly opinion. Snide editorial asides permeate most of what they call news, their audience doesn’t know any better.

And as Fox executives will be the first to admit,it doesn’t matter as long as the target audience hears what it wants to hear. That’s policy with them.
I listened to the NPR 'news' todayat 1:00 p.m. Four stories ripping Trump. That's all they do. Their guests are always leftwingers. They never give the other side. Ever. It's nothing even close to objective. No way taxpayers should be paying for that.

One of them is dead (Rush).
Glenn Beck almost died because of illness.
So they chased him off radio and now he's out there doing his thing like Tucker Carlson.
Thank Obama for this.

I don't know about Glenn Beck, i know he was basically run off from fox, but really, if you asked him today, he'd probably tell you it was the best thing to happen to him

NPR is a news organization. Always has been. They’re reporting is accurate and factual, and largely non partisan.

You may not like all the stories they cover (I never have).

But they’re there to inform you.

If you just want to have your prejudices validated or suck up cheap sensationalism and tabloid junk these are always Fox and NoiseMax. That’s what they do.

Doesn't matter what they do, they tend to lean left, by the way. The point is, we shouldn't be funding ANY private news organization, but if we're going to do it, then we need to fund others as well.

Which program. Some of them are opinion.

Not all are news.

Do you even know the difference?

As president I would outlaw any radio station from broadcasting what is thought of as a dumb commercial.

The money will be easily replaced.
This is what I had thought. I had read several reports of what percentage NPR gets from the government, and yeah, it isn't that much. I don't remember now, but it was well under 10%.

But then I was listening to my local NPR station, they explained that different stations get different amounts, all dependent on how much they get from other sources. . . foundations, local businesses and listeners.

Thus, I was not shocked when they explained that their station relies on the FEDS for 30% of their funding. Shocking.

SO, it will definitely be a good thing, it will force them to tailor their programming to what the local population wants, rather than always doing far left progressive propaganda.

I'm really hoping if the funding is cut, my local station will bring back classical music and hard news, not the ceaseless propaganda they do now.

Lots of folks have liked NPR over the years, not just far left progressives.

In markets that have a demand for talk radio, often times NPR is the only option.

Most certainly, if the local NPR stations do not start responding to local market demand, no, it more than likely won't be replaced. If OTH, they start giving the locals what they want, their donations and business support will increase.

ditto.

. . . and the jazz and blues programs. For many decades I didn't even have anything particularly against their news programming.

Now, I can't listen to any of their news w/o having to hear CRT or AGW propaganda, as if the entire nation agrees on those narratives as "fact."

:sigh2:
