I think the larger question is, why do these congress critters always "see the light" (aka "speaking the truth") right before they announce very publicly they will not be running for reelection? Or in MTG's case, leaving immediately.

It's because they could never speak this way and get elected, due to the poorly informed, conspiratorial minded voting base they are relying on to win an election.

MTG was one of the better ones. She was actually capable of reflection and changing her views on things when new information came to light. MTG, along with Thomas Massie were the most principled Republicans in Congress. MTG should have been speaker of the house at the very least. I'd vote for her over Vance or Don JR for 2028. Its about time that the Republicans have a new face that puts affordability first instead of foreign games. MTG isn't perfect, she's done a fair few things I don't like - but what she has done over the Epstein files proved to me she was of high moral character.

If there was someone more unqualified running against her, her district would find a way to vote for them. Charlie Wilson (TX-2nd if I recall) had a great line about this; “ My seat is safer than fort knox so I can back anything I want. There is a pretty good chance that MTG could keep that seat. She wants a payday. She’ll be on Dancing With The Stars in a few months and making the rounds on right wing media. This isn’t goodbye; it’s hello.
