November 11, 1918 represents a mis-managed cease fire of a mis-managed war, leading to a mis-managed peace and then an even more cataclysmic war. WWI was a monument to stupidity. Almost nothing constructive was learned as a lesson. Mounting mistakes in "peacetime" opened the way for ultimate insanity. Our species proved itself capable of utter degeneracy and mindless inhumanity in the twentieth century, and what we have seen of the twenty-first gives us little hope of genuine improvement.

Veterans Day for me and Nov 10 is the Marine Corps birthday. It may have originally been about the end of WWI but it was changed to just Veterans Day a long time ago.
