Heart of Darkness - Joseph Conrad

We are ready for 'I'

In Cold Blood - Truman Capote, novelization of actual horrific event.
It's called a 'true crime novel.' Capote created the genre. It is considered a novel (loosely) in the sense it is a sub-genre of novel, but it is a rendition of a true event, though it reads like a novel. Some critics have said he did fictionalize certain things in it. Literally though, it is not supposed to be fiction at all. I have taught it, actually, several times. It suffices in this category because it is a sub-genre falling in the category of 'true crime novel.'
