in the 90's Bill Clinton left office with a national surplus, a balanced budget and one of the most popular Presidents ever: how? "It's the economy stupid!" A lesson the Democrats of today seem to have forgotten.

There is a lot of thinking and effort that goes into maintaining the public illusion of participation and representation. This dilutes the actual evaluation of reality and does provide some false hope of improvement. Without that little treat it would be difficult to keep control that they need to continue the scam.
