North Dakota wants hired pipeline protesters to pay state income taxes...

Some of those thousands of veterans that showed up to protest and support the other protesters probably got some free meals. Does that count as taxable income?

a real meal in a real restaurant----like using a VOUCHER?----it might be. sandwiches thrown around? I doubt it
 
That's clever. If these protest groups file tax returns claiming an expense for paying protesters, then those protesters will have to pony up income taxes. If these groups do not make such a claim for deduction they have just lost the money.
