Newsmax interview of Premier Ford was the most direct and transparent I've seen yet. It will be an interesting negotiation if information is perfect

There is an old saying in the stock market for long term, active investors: "the stock market is rational if we presume perfect information is available equally to all". This interview applies this concept in an around about manner I believe.

The interviewer was definitely more direct with Premier Ford and the truth is that Canada can't really complain about reciprocal tariffs if we are placing barriers, taxes, tariffs and restrictions. Interference in the lives of our best talent is just another added issue as employment here is a source of nepotism by Canadians against U.S corporations operating here.

There is a reason Canadians have some of the highest cost of living, especially in housing, and we possess very little alternative options, from banking to cell phones and dairy, Canada is extremely protectionist and Canadian consumers and citizens suffer the most, while U.S companies in particular are denied Canadian market access. These aren't innocuous decisions, they are quite blatant and purposeful.

Now even though I've been persecuted in this police state/caste system, I still believe China is the greater problem to the U.S though I won't remain silent in the face of the onslaught I have experienced nor the harm being done to American interests. I definitely do appreciate why American workers despise NAFTA and our leaders should be cognizant of these facts as well. NAFTA really did gut your industries, especially in the auto sector.

Our tariffs and barriers, covert activities in your corporations here can't be helping us formulate a competent argument as to why.

You are correct. Canada and the USA should be able to work out amicable policies that benefit both nations. Until that happens Trump intends for products the USA can make to be made here and tariffs is one carrot he can use to accomplish that. He wants U.S. steel and aluminum manufacturers, now operating far below capacity, to have incentive to increase production so that the USA is not dependent on Canada for its steel and aluminon.

And China and some other countries are over producing some products and dumping them into the USA at costs below what the USA can make them. The result has been shuttering of our manufacturing industries and us dangerously dependent on China for essential products like pharmaceuticals and the ingredients to make them. Trump's intention with those tariffs is to again provide incentive for those industries to return to the USA so that we are independent of control by China. I don't know enough to say, but the same situation could be the case for Canada.

The USA used to create and make most things used by Americans. Trump intends for that to be the case again.
