The new transport secretary has admitted she has no idea how much Labour’s plan to renationalise the railways will cost.

Heidi Alexander was speaking as it was announced the government will bring three of the privatised train companies - South Western Railway, c2c and Greater Anglia - into public ownership next year
.

Read down the link, it's Utopian and hilarious. A basic question to stump a Lefty is, "How much will it cost?".

Labour claim they're going to save money by not knowing how much it costs, lol.

They're intent on wrecking the rail. Blair screwed the NHS and Schools, now what's in store for the rail, PFI?

I really don't know what you are talking about so here's a song:

The railways in the UK used to be nationalised (state owned), called British Rail. Unfortunately, nationalised companies are plagued by poor investment, fraud and strikes. So the rail itself was kept nationalised, renamed Network Rail (NR). NR maintains the tracks, it's infrastructure.

The rolling stock (trains and carriages) and services (timetables, running the trains, tickets etc..) was scrapped and put out to tender. Private firms do that. A Google of rolling stock shows how these companies have to buy/hire/lease in the trains and carriages from suppliers.

NR is still plagued by poor investment, fraud, and strikes. The investment is classed as poor because NR is so inefficient.

So Labour want to go back 70's and re-nationalise the train services, but they don't know how much that will cost. Fools like Deadpan Deadstick (post #2) believes the government can just steal the rolling stock off firms that bought and invested in it.

So with the rail, we have a stupid Labour government with it's clueless thick supporters.

My grandad worked on British Rail all his life, he said it was destined to fail. Life changes, nationalised companies don't keep up with the times, like your constitution.

OK, thanks....Still don't care.

BTW.....Our old ragged-out Constitution is what makes us citizens....Not mere subjects so bugger-off with that crap.

Foreigners own some of our rail companies including German, good job they didn't before WW2 or any invasion force would have all they needed to know, i thought you were all about taking back control, and it wouldn't be stealing just taking back stolen goods, but i doubt Starmer has the balls for that.

We have the rail, you're just bickering over how it's financed, taxpayer or shareholders. You are allowed to buy shares to know!! So rather than have the taxpayer foot the shitshow, use shareholders and tickets.

They should have chosen someone that's got a clue. I know a business that needed a Fleet director, to deal with all the fleet account customers and the garages that maintains them. Didn't take long for it all to collapse. Why? They hired a woman with a French degree. Probably the transport secretary has a drama degree.

You'll never be half the man your mother is. ;)

Or, to put in a language you will understand:

Bugger off, pillock. You grotty wanking oink artless base-court apple-john. You clouted boggish foot-licking twit. You dankish clack-dish plonker. You gormless crook-pated tosser. You churlish boil-brained clotpole ponce. You cockered bum-bailey poofter. You craven dewberry pisshead cockup pratting naff. You gob-kissing gleeking flap-mouthed coxcomb. You dread-bolted fobbing beef-witted clapper-clawed flirt-gill.

The Septic Yanks that are incapable to inject anything sensible to say just comes out with the same old shit clichés. If UK rail is above your braincell, then I suggest you go fuck yourself and find a thread where there's a group hug going on.

It's bad enough putting up with Tommy Tit's and Deadbeat's lack of knowledge.

She has been in the job a week.

‘We have fully costed, fully funded plans,” Labour told the country during the election campaign. “Nothing in our plans requires any additional tax to be increased.” Ramming home that message, Rachel Reeves promised every Labour policy was “fully funded and fully costed – no ifs, no ands, no buts … no additional tax rises.

That is what Labour said, gullible like you believed them. They fully costed their plans. One of those plans was to re-nationalise the train services. When they're in power, and it doesn't matter if you've been in the job for a week, the train services had been costed.

So what is Labour's costing for the rail? They don't know, do you know? They might have something scribbled down on the back of an expenses envelope, and you suck up their crap.
