New members are impressive

I've noticed this on various forums over the years and I'm impressed with some new members.

The latest/newest member here signed up at 4:43am and was last seen 4:45am (I'm in the UK hence probably why the times are the middle of the night). Doesn't sound impressive? Well, I might be old fashioned but within that 2 minute maximum time frame, would I have immediately navigated to settings/preferences and sorted a banner and avatar out?

Don't folk normally get there bearings first, see what the sub sections are etc..? Or are some 'new' members already acquainted with the site

I (stupidly) became a member but did not make my first post until 8 months later .

A huge blunder to start as it turned out --- many here will doubtless agree ---- but I am wondering now whether to vanish and take up smoking or alcohol ----
surely far less addictive and lass damaging .
