After a lengthy back-and-forth and in a stunning Hollywood twist, Netflix has pulled out of its bid to purchase Warner Bros.

In a statement released on Thursday afternoon, the streamer said, “The transaction we negotiated would have created shareholder value with a clear path to regulatory approval. However, we’ve always been disciplined, and at the price required to match Paramount Skydance’s latest offer, the deal is no longer financially attractive, so we are declining to match the Paramount Skydance bid.”

This may be a win for trump, but you have to wonder what will happen to CNN, owned by WB, if it becomes another mouthpiece for MAGA. It is no coincidence that Netflix CEO met with trump shortly before the announcement. CNN is struggling now, and a move to the far right is not going to help viewership. Are they going to take devotees away from FOX News? MAGA is about 30-37% of the population, how are they going to increase viewers if all you hear is how great trump is? This is how Orban tightened his grip on Hungary.

The restriction of Hungary’s free press directly affects informed democratic participation. Opposition politicians have long complained that they only get five minutes of air time every four years on public television, the legal minimum, to present their platforms before elections.

In contrast, public television and radio channels consistently echo talking points communicated both by Fidesz and a network of think tanks and pollsters that receive funding from the government and the party. Their analysts routinely appear in affiliated media to bolster government narratives, while independent commentators rarely, if ever, appear.

During the campaign in May, Hungary’s electoral commission issued a warning to the public broadcaster for repeatedly airing Fidesz campaign videos during news segments, a violation of impartiality rules. The broadcaster carried on regardless.

CNN is struggling really? Being a 24/7 anti Trump arm of the DNC communications team hurt their ratings that’s as shocking as the sunrise.

CNN should be thankful Ellison saves them unlike the toilet paper WaPo losing $100 million last year. Fake news is costly.

Leftists know it would be like pissing in the wind outcome. Even the leftist Jeff Bezos says screw CNN. He knows no leftist billionaires are stupid enough to believe that there's no consequences for reporting fake news.
 
Most of us large stockholders in Netflix did not want the merger. Netflix already does things astonishingly well and did not need this expensive buy to do anything favorable

They have boldly gone where no one went before. I got it for $33 a share in 2003 and it’s been incredible

IN the buyout CNN was valued as zero in calculating the offer. In other words worthless. Maybe a conservative can buy it for pennies on the dollar and make it a real news organization
