The rich will never pay more taxes as long as the tax system remains insanely complex. It is how they hide the taxes they really pay.
The real answer is a flat tax and you will never see the left push it even though it guarantees that the super-rich will pay far more in taxes. You will also not see the right entertain the idea either – it removes to much political power and forces them to pay higher taxes.
