These would be my policies about space if I were President.

The USA and in fact the world has so many ways to deliver Internet, TV, Phone and Information that the USA no longer needs space.

In the entire history of the USA, the USA has never once waged a war or fought a war from space and does not now and never will need to do so.

The United States is responsible for NASA (not other countries) and the United States Government is (to a sincerely satisfactory level) satisfied and comfortable with the fact that Earth is the only home to live in the reachable Universe and if it does in fact exist elsewhere, the reason why we are so far apart is because interplanetary life is not supposed to develop enough technology to cross paths.
The United States needs the money being spent on NASA to be spent on more domestic, internal, civil things.

The United States will no longer fund NASA or any other space program.
It is against the law for privatized space programs to exist in the United States.

Entering the stratosphere while a citizen or tourist of the United States carries a penalty of up to 1 year in jail and a $5.000 fine upon conviction in a bench trial and leaving earth quadruples the penalties for your first offense.

The United States will no longer research. investigate or commit time, energy, resources and money into claims of UFO activity.
Reporting a "UFO" will be treated as a false report of a violent felony that didn't happen, which is a felony for your first offense and the second offense will be punishable by up to 20 years in a psychiatric institution.

AI Overview

The word "lunatic" originates from the Latin word "luna," meaning moon. Historically, "lunatic" referred to individuals experiencing periodic insanity believed to be influenced by the moon's phases. This connection between the moon and mental instability is reflected in the word's etymology and its early usage.

Here's a more detailed explanation:
  • Latin Roots:
The word "lunaticus" in Late Latin, derived from "luna," literally meant "moon-struck".
  • Early Beliefs:
Ancient and medieval physicians and scholars believed that the moon's phases could affect a person's mental state, causing erratic or irrational behavior.

  • English Adoption:
The word "lunatic" entered English through Old French, likely influenced by these long-held beliefs about lunar influence on madness.
  • Shift in Meaning:
Over time, the term "lunatic" became associated with any person experiencing severe mental illness, regardless of whether their condition was actually linked to the moon.
  • Modern Usage:
While the connection to the moon is still present in the word's etymology, "lunatic" is now considered by many to be an outdated and offensive term for someone with a mental illness.

The private sector isn't enough when it comes to space. There isn't a profit to be gained by sending probes to Europa to search for life for example. That doesn't make it not worth doing though. Profit motivated businesses are not going to spend billions of dollars on exploration that won't make them money. However the exploration and understanding of space is very likely vital to our long-term survival.

That's insane and not exaggerating or metaphorically.

You seem to be leaning toward conspiracy. Maybe, but you should also consider the possibility that there are elements you're unaware of or don't understand.

The space program has brought on all kinds of inventions which have helped we the people down here on Earth.

Indeed, like the 25,000 mile club.

Just make sure women are on board or it could get a little awkward up there

Musk proved you wrong

Musk proved you wrong
No, he didn't. When Musk builds the next James Webb telescope and starts sending probes all over the universe that might be the case, but he won't, because it's not profitable. Exploration of the unknown in space will never be done privately for that reason. It doesn't give a practical path to financial return.

Private companies are interested in what is profitable. That doesn't mean they won't use space, like Musk has, or even help develop technology for profit, but spending billions and billions just for the sake of discovery is something that will only be done publicly.

I commend you for having policies. They suck, but at least you have policies, which is a hell of a lot more than Democrats have.

Profits create the best motivation for success. The space shuttle created the personal computer but private business gave it to the a nation. Profits define success.

This OP might have been written by someone like DeCrappitus —- it is that ill informed and naive ,
Those on existing bases within the Secret Space Force will be smiling .

Okay, but you missed the point twice now. Where did the funding that paid those businesses to build shuttle technology for the original push to space and the moon come from? The exploration element is funded publicly. The private sector cares about profit, not exploration for exploration's sake.

Lol.
The noobs always post in the wrong forums.
Of course no link.
Try Science and technology, although the OP seems against that, perhaps General Discussion or better yet...
The Rubber Room.

There was little outrage after Hussein and Biden turned NASA into a greenie solar windmill weather project but all of a sudden when Trump revitalizes NASA and space exploration is viable the crazies think it's a waste of money. No surprises here
