I always considered Tito a great leader.....Anyone who could hold that herd of cats that was Yugoslavia together for as long as he did while at the same time holding the soviets at arm's length deserves to be remembered in a positive light.

Yea, Tito was the real deal. No matter how he did it, he got it done, and there was probably no one else who could have done what he did.

He made his bones as a partisan leader holding together the various Yugo factions together fighting the Nazis.....2000 Jews fought with him.

Talk about a complicated guy even though he was communist lite!

That's what made this guy so good, a chameleon like ability to shift alliances with those more powerful yet keep them at arms length in the process, which he did with Soviets. He had to be commanding in order to keep all those ethinc tensions at bay.

LOL.....About like when a old Roman general got asked how did he grew so old in the service of Rome. "I always knew when to switch sides" he said. ;)

Josip Broz Tito (1892–1980) led the Partisan resistance during WWII, fighting against the Nazis, Ustaše, and Chetniks.
