I’m getting close to eighty years old and as I get older I realize how important it is to see clearly. That’s why I had cataract surgery on both my eyes to replace opaque natural lenses and now have 20-20 vision for the first time since about 1980. But it is not just important to see what is in front of you but to understand what you are looking at. I concluded that the world is changing in ways that are bizarre, and my home city has fallen so far into a woke rabbit hole that its population has become destructively near sighted. It went for Harris over Trump two to one. You do not need advanced degrees and a lot of letters after your name to smell a rat even if you do not recognize it by what you see.

When a liberal city like mine goes right along with a dark-of night election in 2020 that was decided by “special” votes that came from boxes under tables and suitcases in closets, you just know the people cannot see what is really there. When a city does not question why US researchers like Anthony Fauci would conspire with foreign actors to create biological weapons and then intentionally or unintentionally release a deadly global virus, what kind of people are running that city or are in its media?

Why would the people of my city see rats like this and not question what was going on? Maybe you can find the answer here:

I was talking to my brother about this.

It's not stupidity...because it's WILLFUL! They CHOOSE to believe the lies.

After hours of discussion we came up with...it would be too painful for a liberal to admit to themselves that their entire belief system is wrong. They would have to turn their back on their entire life.

So instead of admitting to themselves that the grass is green...they WILLFULLY go on believing the grass is purple, even though they really know better, because they can't face the pain of being wrong their entire lives.

Which, of course, means no learning, and no personal growth.

Liberals like shiny objects that give them a sense of color. They can't seem to go any deeper than the superficial gratification they get from the sparkle. Simon was seeing this even way back then. That was a very conservative song way ahead of its time. I didn't get it then but I get it now. This was before the internet and even cable news. Simon is a genius equal to Dylan.

EXCELLENT POST! Best post I've read here in weeks!

Not only are your observations incisive and straight to the point, but the article could not be better.
Fortunately, I am that rare person who fully understands the danger of stupid people (we are SURROUNDED by them and many of them come with advanced degrees), nor do I ever underestimate their potential for harm.

Stupidity is our greatest danger, and the #1 tool (along with its cousin, complacency) used and relied upon by our enemies.

For the Leftists with whom I communicate - a dwindling number, I admit - it mainly came down to, "Trump is bad." Of course they use a variety of words to support it but it boils down to, Trump is Bad.

The cornucopia of slanders never ends. When I take them one by one, knocking each one down in turn, they get more and more angry at my unwillingness to see reality.

But he's a convicted FELON! I knock it down.
But he's a RACIST! I knock it down.
But he is a "convicted" rapist! I knock it down.
But he is a misogynist. I knock it down.
But the BANKRUPTCIES! The contractors that he stiffed! I explain how "development" works.

It goes on and on. And they finally just walk away, literally or figuratively, and write me off as a hopeless case.

Best of all, in the aftermath of the election, the Leftist world asserts that Trump voters are "all stupid."

What about me, I ask? I'm not stupid; I'm educated, intelligent, experienced, knowledgeable, and I'm familiar with all the issues. Prove that I'm stupid, and based on what?
