More school-aged kids should play organized sports. It's so good for kids in so many ways. And have you ever met an adult who regretted playing sports as a kid?

Used to be you had to behave. Go to class, get avg grades. It kept a lot of at-risk kids out of trouble.

Used to sort of be like that thru college. Since the 90s? Doubtful. If you. Can dunk flat-footed with 2 hands or rn a 4.3 40yd dash? We dont give a crap if you're accused of three date rapes. Come on in. We'll get those dismissed.

Same now, with rare exceptions.

Hs, JHS, church leagues, great.

With new College NIL rules? I am not clear if they even have to attend classes? It is literally minor league NFL perhaps. Colleges take the profits?

It happens sometimes, but if word gets out the school will suffer in terms of recruiting and support from alumni.

You're talking about a tiny percentage athletes who get any NIL money and an even smaller number of athletes who get significant amounts of money. The issue isnt NIL money as much as it is allowing people to play for 6 years ala Carson Beck.

I grew up before video games and recall all the unorganized ballgames we used to play on our own with no adults around. When I rented the movie The Sandlot for my kids born in the 1980s it was such a pleasant surprise for me. It brought home memories on how things were back then, baseball glove hanging from a bike's handlebar and how our minds exaggerated situations.

The NIL money just started. They will soon have an NFL style payout system. QB, edge rusher, LT get max, others scales down to 1/20 of that for O-line, CB etc. They won't want to block or tackle for free forever will they? They see the millions floated.

If only they had that when I was in college. I might have made enough for one cup of coffee.
