Legitimately registered voters must kept be only as low as their right to legally vote allows.

Republican sues to force Michigan to purge ineligible voters

A lawsuit alleges that 16 Michigan counties have abnormally high voter registration rates because state and local election officials are not doing enough to remove ineligible people from the rolls.

Actual incidents of in-person voter fraud nationwide remain extremely rare, and President Donald Trump’s now-disbanded voting integrity commission failed to uncover any evidence of extensive election misconduct.

Rollow said Michigan has one the best “motor voter” systems in the country. Nearly all eligible people who get a driver’s license or state ID can register to vote.

“As with other states, there is a federally mandated delay before some registration records are cancelled to ensure responsible list maintenance and has never been credibly linked to illegal voting on any substantial scale,” he said.
