Teixeira, 45, is running for the seat currently held by Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, who recently announced that he plans to run for Texas attorney general. The 21st Congressional District covers the area north of San Antonio.
Former Major League Baseball All-Star Mark Teixeira, who played for the New York Yankees the last time they won the World Series in 2009, announced Thursday that he's running for a House seat in Texas and is echoing President Donald Trump's agenda in his campaign launch.

Great hitter.

He's a good guy. When he was on the Yankees he helped fund a charter school in Harlem. I donated to it.

I have given up on Roger Staubach in office. Mark is young enough with name recognition to go higher than congress.

Any qualifications for holding public office? Nope. Just a name and money...thats all it takes with conservatives.

The only qualification for a House seat is to be an American Citizen for at least 7 years, 25 years of age, and a resident of the State they are running to represent.
