Yep, $10MILLION a minute and that's in addition to their enormous profits. Not to mention that we don't need to drill even one more oil well.

I wonder how many tens of millions of acres we would have to de-forrested to install them.
Of course nothing could grow under the panels because of lack of sunlight.
So the animals and insects that depend on the vegetation would die out.
Basically, this sounds like another looney liberal pipe dream with disaster written all over it. .......

The International Energy Agency (IEA) says that the fossil fuel industries receive almost $548 billion in subsidies each year. That’s as of 2013, the latest year for which data is available. The MIT report says those funds must be diverted to clean energy to make the dream of a carbon-free future a reality. The authors say, “Solar electricity generation is one of very few low-carbon energy technologies with the potential to grow to very large scale.” But that growth won’t happen fast enough unless the money to build the solar infrastructure is allocated.
Rather than hoping for new breakthroughs that will lower the cost of solar panels even more, the MIT researchers think our emphasis should be on building a “smart grid” that integrates all of the solar energy available from rooftop solar systems, community solar, and utility-scale solar projects into an efficient whole.
It also denominates the relatively new field of electricity storage as an area where further research could lower costs dramatically. Just as the cost of solar panels has plummeted over the past decade, new battery technology and the economies of scale that flow from greater production will combine to drive down the price of energy storage in the next decade. Batteries are the critical component to bring out solar power’s full potential.

For you see, when we talk all these resources, we are talking about consumer also being produces, from the homeowner putting one kilowatt on the grid, to the investor putting one Gw of solar on the grid. That kind of independence is not what the 'Conservatives' want to see. They prefer we all owe our soul to the company store.

Wind at 3.7 versus dirty coal at 6.6. Solar at 7.2, right now, and dropping in price as we post. Renewables are going to win on economics.

While there are a number of reasons a company may defer tax payments, the companies in our study reported their deferral was almost entirely from “plant, property and equipment.” These companies have spent more in recent years on tangible property (e.g. constructing drilling rigs), and have been able to deduct more from their taxable income as a result, dramatically lowering their federal tax bills.

Deducting typical business expenses is not a subsidy and is not exclusive to fossil fuels.
Even money losing "green energy" companies could write off typical business expenses against their profits. If they ever generate any profits.
