You just can't shut down a factory. You have to find a new factory that will be able to build the same thing. Then you have to make prototypes, get user acceptance, etc. Resourcing a component takes months or sometimes years.

More than likely, the manufacturers will

1) Cut their own profit margin to stay competitive.
2) Resource Chinese goods through third party brokers.
3) Pass the price increase on to their customers.

By the time it gets to "Trying to find an American company that is competitive", Trump will have completely trashed the economy.
