Minority and WBE Contracting are bullshit programs that have been going on for many decades. Top-down mandates to procurement agencies and departments demand that a certain percentage of project subcontracts go to companies that are owned and controlled by Blacks, women, and other POC's or persecuted demographics. So what happens is some "evil, rich, White" people find a token POC or woman who can create a company, be its President, bid and get the subcontracts, then somehow flow down the actual work and money back to the White people who are actually in charge. Some of the scams are so transparent that they are laughable, and more often than not the President ends up become quite wealthy - at least for a time - and happy as the proverbial clam.

This is not just a Federal problem. In fact it is worse at the State and local levels.

And it is huge. All American tax payers should be aware of this phenomenon, and pushing their elected representatives to kill these POC and women owned business subcontracting mandates. The paltry number of successful, legitimate businesses that have been created and survived is a national disgrace.

I believe the feds dropped it early in the Trump administration for federal contracts.

Minority- and women-owned businesses are bracing for the end of affirmative action in federal contracting - and the potential loss of contracts worth at least $70 billion a year - as government programs for "disadvantaged" firms have fallen to legal attack over the past year.

In a seismic shift, a series of court rulings have held that some of the federal government's largest diversity programs violate the Constitution's guarantee of equal protection, often citing the Supreme Court's 2023 decision to overturn race-conscious college admissions.

As a result, key agencies have dropped race and gender preferences born in the civil rights era and intended to level the playing field by setting aside billions each year in contracting dollars for minority- and women-owned firms.

This what I typed was known in cities for many years and decades. And the truth is many contractors can and do take advantage of city, state and federal governments. And it exists at all levels. At higher ones the military/industrial complex is a prime example. The NASA Space Launch System is another along with other space projects. A telescope they have a million miles away was supposed to cost 700 million dollars. It ended up costing ten times more and was 15 years late in launching. A drop out of thousands.

As for NASA, FEMA and other federal agencies you seem to be focusing on for some reason.... when they are funded, they are funded based on previous expenditures. When the expenditures don’t cover reality...more spending is necessary because they are the only players in town.
