The state of Minnesota hasn’t voted for a Republican president since 1972 when they chose Richard Nixon over George Mcgovern.

However, thee state of Minnesota has had 3 Republican governors since 1972 though.

Al Quie. (1979-1983)
Arne Carlson. (1991-1999)
Tim Pawlenty. (2003-2011)

So my question is, how come the state of Minnesota has always voted for Democrat presidents for thee past 50 years, but the people of the state have voted in numerous Republicans for governors and probably other political positions as well?

Does thee average dumb joe only pay attention to presidential elections or something? And they’re the ones always voting blue?

If anyone here at USmessageboard has an answer for this, please explain..

I would need to know more about the governors: were they RINO's? Bahh, even then it doesn't make sense.

We're looking at a similar thing here in my state (guess by my handle). "Republican" governor, super majority democrat/progressive legislature, and consistent electoral college votes for democrat presidents.

There is a strong case for cheating. Progressives do not have the morality of fairness: they truly believe their cause of socialism outweighs any morality of being fair and honest.

There is also a strong case for media influence. All the nerds listen to NPR/PBS in the morning and think they are intellectually superior for having listened to it. Brainwashing. Not to mention the evening news :puke:

Very few people are active enough and thoughtful enough to really think about what they believe. Sad, but true. The Sheeple vote for whoever they are told to. Screw "a well informed electorate"...they're all too busy minding their own business and trying to get what they want to pay attention to facts.

Republicans are a little better at local level on crime, but they can't run the country anywhere but into the ditch. Look how Republican president Bush along with Republican House, Senate, SCOTUS & Governors destroyed Clintons Greatest Economy of All Time! Repubtards only print, borrow & spend. They never, ever pay the tax bill.

Two reasons: The majority of Minnesota's population lives in two large urban areas, Minneapolis/St. Paul and Duluth. The second reason is Lutherans, who are primarily liberal.

Why has north and South Dakota had democrat senators and governors despite always voting GOP in presidential election?

How did blue California elect republican Schwarzenegger?

It’s not an uncommon phenomenon

At the national level presidential candidates have to appeal to the larger base. At the state level politicians can tailor their campaign to that specific state and can be much more moderate

Maybe. And maybe the choice was unclear at the time.

But in today's political theater, there are clear moral, ethical, and philosophical issues on the table: Do you or Don't you want to see the United States of America Continue to shine?

There are those within who wish to undermine the USA because they are unhappy with what they have (food, shelter, opportunity). They wish to install a new principle: The principle of Equity. Equity is the currency of slave holders. It is the idea that it is ok to treat some people differently than others. "Some people deserve a bigger slice of the pie, because of XY and Z"

Then there are those who still believe in the USA's founding principle of Equality. Equality was the rallying cry that led to the Revolutionary war, the shot heard around the world. Equality was the moral booster that the Northern troops clung to against those who thought Equity was their master. Equality, not Equity, is the gold standard of free people.

Let's not forget for a moment that abuse of power is a real thing. My words above are a hint at the philosophy, however greed and temptation will lead any of us sinners astray. I have talked to people who literally believe being a slave master is ok. It is being normalized. This is a societal failure in the making. Our government itself seems to have run off the rails of morality in almost every way. We are the slaves to the whim of the government. Those with power NEED us to accept the new Equity, otherwise they can not rule over us.

All I know is that people are fragile. They tend to go along with whatever they think is most popular. If our enemies have control of the microphone and most people only hear their side of the story, we, as a free people, are in big trouble.
