ATLANTA (AP) — The shooting of five U.S. Army soldiers at a base in Georgia on Wednesday is the latest in a growing list of violent incidents at American military installations over the years. Shootings have ranged from isolated incidents between service members to attacks on bases to mass-casualty events, such as the shooting by an Army psychiatrist at Texas’s Ford Hood in 2009 that left 13 people dead.

Here is a look at some of the shootings at U.S. military bases in recent years:

In December, a National Guard soldier was charged with murder after authorities said he shot a man at a former girlfriend’s residence on the grounds of Fort Gordon. The base outside of Augusta, Georgia, is home to the U.S. Army Cyber Command. It was formerly known as Fort Eisenhower.

In June 2020, a woman and a man were killed in a shooting at the Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota. The woman’s parents later told media outlet KJZZ in Phoenix that she was the victim of domestic violence.

Reports are that five soldiers were shot and take the base hospital. There are no reports as to motive. The base was on or still is on lock down. No word from base commander's office as yet and Army investigating as well local law enforcement.

Let's see, with every type of gun there is available, we see a shooting on a military base.

So much for the "more guns more safe" belief.

An Army Base full highly trained soldiers (good guys with firearms) could not stop one bad guy with a firearm.

Yep. It erases all the silly stuff that gets repeated here.

You obviously have never been in the military. If you had you'd have never made such an ignorant claim. The only folks that carry guns on a US military installation are MPs and people training with them, like at a range.

We know. The fact is that guns are available in case of an attack, and this was an attack.

Oh bullshit, military weapons are kept in armories, this incident was over before even the armed MPs could arrive. He was stopped by brave unarmed soldiers. Too bad that kind of bravery isn't usually around when civilians lives are being threatened.

Actually except for guards and police you are unlikely to find folks carrying on a base.

Ayup they are much pickier about who's carrying on base than a city like Dallas for instance.

Each incident has it's own scenario. Jihad inspired Army Major Nidal opened fire on his own men and killed 13 Soldiers at Ft. Hood around 2009. He was sentenced to death in 2013 but languished on death row for more than ten years. There is no doubt of his guilt so isn't it time to get on with the sentence?

Neither did 44 or 46, you got a point, make it. BTW it wasn't 47 spewing ignorant shit in this thread, it was you and a couple of your comrades.

.
Neither did Clinton 42
