This does not sound right, judging from the picture, she is not covered in mud, so the "quicksand" excuse does not work. Furthermore, she is awful close to her van, if she was that close, she probably got up and slept in it. Kind of reminds me of some of the "stranded at sea for 60 days" stories.

I was trapped in quick-mud in Houston shortly after hurricane Harvey finished flooding that region. It was along a hike/bike path covered in mud. I had no idea the mud I stepped into was that deep. I had to struggle to pull myself out as I kept sinking into the mud. I grabbed onto a branch connected to a root and was able to pull and roll myself out. The mud sucked both shoes off my feet as I escaped. It’s a very real phenomenon.
Lost an irreplaceable and collectible pair of PF Flyers in the process.

That can definitely happen, she said she was "trapped on her back", which doesn't happen, especially when not covered in mud. She was sleeping in the van.

Not saying it's not true but it seems to beg more questions than the answers given.

Real or fake, this keeps me from wanting to wade in my ponds, and the problem is, it really needs to be done.

what do you have to gain by wading in your ponds?
I have a shit ton of muskrat damage, and because the ponds were dug before I bought the house, I have no idea how silted in they are. Neighbors say they weren't that deep to begin with. . . so the only way I know for sure is to inspect them first hand.
